You guys know that I’m an advocate of not washing my hair very often, right?!
The thing is, my hair doesn’t get greasy or stinky because I’ve trained my body not to overproduce oils. When I cut out daily washing a couple of years ago, I started to notice that I could actually go longer with out washing. So initially I washed every other day and then every third day and eventually less until I realized my hair washing became a weekly event!
I have a handful of girlfriends and clients that I’ve converted but most people are like, “EWWWWW!” So here is documentation that my hair isn’t super gross during the week as it patiently waits for wash day!
Day 1: I wash and spend the time to do a great blow out. I don’t use a ton of product because that will add to the grime and make my wash day come faster! I used Young Again by Kevin Murphy on my damp hair. It is an amazing, light weight oil that protects and nourishes the hair.
Day 2: I did nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. And I mean I didn’t even brush it!
Day 3: Headed to Palm Springs for the weekend so I quickly curled for that festive vacation look.
Day 4: At the pool all day, top knot. Tie it high so it doesn’t interfere with lounging and to keep it dry!
Day 5: Touched up the waves with my curling iron and added a little Hair Resort Spray by Kevin Murphy. MY FAVORITE PRODUCT EVERRRRRR!
Day 6: After 2 pool days and 5 days of not washing, my hair is starting to get a little less than fresh! I spritzed the roots with Dry Texture by Oribe to absorb any oils and then twisted the bangs back until the sides met in a low, side ponytail.
Day 7: OK, I admit my hair is now dirty. And due for a good washing. Which I will do tomorrow. So for today, I wore a top knot to keep it off my face.
And that my friends is how I wear my hair for a week with out washing! If you want to learn more about how I trained my hair to produce less oils, you can watch my Dirty Hair video right here!
Keep it dirty!
